Design & Renovation Projects

Ponsonby Warehouse

This converted warehouse project was for a blended family that wanted to stay in central Auckland. We went through a process to upgrade much of the building and lift the roof to effectively make this building a new home. There are a number of spaces all with soft furnishings to break down the echo effect. The rooms open up to a central wide hallway that leads to a light filled back portion of the warehouse. Externally we re-clad the dated building and installed a new insulated panel roof. A small rear entertainment area completes the project.

Kawau Island

The owners of this site wanted a ‘back to basics’ approach. We took the idea of a campgrounds to its literal conclusion in that we have three sleeping pods that are independent of each other and yet are connected by a central flat outdoor area. An ablution block is kept at the rear of the site. The entertainment and cooking pavilion gives refuge from mosquitos and opens up for an open view of South Cove and to the East back towards the Mahurangi Peninsula.

Swanson House

A small scale project for a home renovation that had a brief to borrow space under eaves to keep costs down. The project included a new extended kitchen, dining and living room. A laundry became a utility space that housed a scullery, dishwasher and washing machine. A new extended bathroom allowed for a generous shower and bath by building under the eaves line
